On this episode we have the super man Hannes Bend. Hannes shares
his birth trauma story, the art of forgiveness, and how the power
of breathing can turn you into a super human.
Hannes Bend started the company
breathing.ai focusing on well-being with screen
experiences using machine learning (deep breathing + deep
learning).
Breathing awareness and deep breathing have enabled
Hannes to overcome life-long stress symptoms and anxiety after
birth trauma and cerebral palsy.
Hannes has been working as an artist and researcher
internationally, recently in neuroscience at The University Oregon
and published papers on Virtual Reality, visual stimuli, and
meditation.
The studies of Bend’s team from The Institute of
Neuroscience and Quantum Physics Alemàn Lab at the University of
Oregon won “Best Presentation Award in the panel “Wellbeing
Computing: AI meets Health and Happiness Science” at the
Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Spring
Symposia 2016 at Stanford University. Research and Augmented and
Virtual Reality projects were also developed and/or presented at
MIT Media Lab, Harvard University, Frost Museum of Science, The
Rubin Museum of Art among others.
Over the past five years, Hannes Bend has been working with
50+ scientists, psychologists, developers, and artists from
renowned universities and created multiple continents for VR/AR
biofeedback projects, also for Wim “The Iceman” Hof.
Hannes also guides mindfulness, yoga and breathing in schools
(for the nonprofit Mission Be), offices (e.g. WeWork HQ), jail
complex Rikers Island, workshops in yoga studios, private clients
at year-round for his meetup "Breathe NY" at Elizabeth Street
Garden.
Hannes believes a conscious experience and guidance of
breathing can fundamentally improve life quality and peace in the
world.
